Grateful AF – Why You Need More Than a Gratitude Diary

Being more grateful is becoming common practice. You may be aware of the benefits of gratitude and perhaps you have even started using a ‘Gratitude Diary’. No doubt your intention comes from the right place, but how many of us are actually seeing these benefits in our own life? How many of us are really practising being grateful AF?

In a world where we have so much and yet want so much more, it is easy for us to focus on what we lack. In fact, for most of us, it’s our default option. We have spent so many years always seeking out areas to improve ourselves, our lives or even others. So when we try and change this behaviour, we underestimate just how much effort it will take to actually change and be more accepting of what we already have rather than what is missing.

Gratitude needs to be a feeling that we can embody throughout our everyday life. Put simply, we need to get ourselves into a ‘state’ of gratitude. And this requires more than just writing down a list of things we are grateful for. Although a great start, to reap the real benefits of gratitude, we must make it more than just an activity we do before bed.

When we move into a state of gratitude, we move from a place of fear to a place of abundance. It is fear that keeps us from not receiving more into our life. Fear of not being worthy to receive what is in the highest good for us. And some of us don’t consciously know we are living in this state of fear. But how you feel subconsciously blocks the flow of abundance from reaching us. Not only abundance in a material sense, but an emotional, physical and spiritual level as well.

Working on reducing feelings of self-worth will help you become more grateful and more accepting and open to receiving abundance.

Next time you begin to write down your grateful list, hold onto a Hiddenite crystal and try this activity before you pick up the pen.

  1. Close your eyes and focus on your breath.
  2. Put your hand on your heart and feel your heartbeat.
  3. Now think about something that is going to make you smile – a person, a thing or an experience. It could be a family holiday, a friend or your dog, the smell of grandmother’s cooking or the beach…
  4. Just enjoy that feeling for a moment, and you should have naturally relaxed a little.

This is a state of gratitude.

It’s easy for you to get there because it was an experience you had already remembered. The key to living in a grateful state, or being grateful AF, is to find that feeling for things you don’t even have yet. Being grateful for the things that you want in life.

Just as you were worthy of those past experiences you just felt in your heart, you are worthy for so much that is yet to happen.

Getting good at gratitude will help prepare you when you’re faced with challenges throughout life. During these moments, we naturally move into a state of fear, sadness or vulnerability. When we feel in a lower state, we can’t think positively. Gratitude has the power to change our emotional state and raise our vibration. When we feel like we are receiving something, our body naturally moves into this state and will trigger the brain to reflect that feeling and pass those emotions on to the body.

If you can feel it and see it, then you can create it.

In love and light
